ABC had a great Wednesday night as every show was either up or flat in the demo. At 8pm, The Middle was down two tenths in viewers but up a tenth in the demo while Suburgatory was also down two tenths in viewers and even in the demo. ABC has a strong hour here that is doing great in a difficult timeslot as Suburgatory was very deserving of its full season order. At 9pm, Modern Family was up a nice half a million viewers and two tenths in the demo. At a 5.9 demo, it has now tied Two and a Half Men for best demo of the week. This show is continuing to grow in its third season. At 9:30pm, Happy Endings was up six tenths in viewers and four tenths in the demo. The good news is that it is a series high and decent overall numbers. The bad news is that the retention was terrible out of Modern Family. Still, ABC has ordered six additional scripts so it looks like they will stick with it for awhile. At 10pm, Revenge was up two tenths in viewers and three tenths in the demo, rebounding nicely from last week's lows. Like Suburgatory, it was very deserving of its full season as it won the hour in the demo for the second time this season.
CBS also posted strong numbers though the 10pm hour took a hit. At 8pm, Survivor was even in viewers and up a tenth in the demo. At 9pm, Criminal Minds was down half a million viewers but even in the demo. Wednesday is a very competitive night in total viewers as CBS and ABC are posting great numbers and NBC is better than other nights. At 10pm, CSI was down 1.1 million viewers and three tenths in the demo. This fall was supposed to be Law & Order: SVU vs CSI in the Wednesday 10pm hour. Who would have guessed it would be ABC's Revenge that's the real story for the hour?
NBC started off with Up All Night which was down four tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. While the viewer total is a series low and the demo ties a season low, it's still above a 2 yet again as it is holding up quite well for an 8pm NBC show. A repeat of Whitney did better than the cancelled Free Agents at 8:30pm. At 9pm, Harry's Law was down seven tenths in viewers but even in the demo for a fourth straight week... albeit at a very low 1.2. But does anyone think NBC can really do any better in this timeslot? At least the total viewer number isn't horrible, which is probably why NBC ordered additional scripts. Finally at 10pm, Law & Order: SVU was down seven tenths in viewers but even in the demo, finishing in third in both categories. FOX had baseball since it was rain delayed and preempting The X-Factor. It posted decent numbers but Factor would have done better.
