NBC picked up two new sitcoms to series with many more coming soon, probably tomorrow. They picked up Powerless and Trial & Error, which join the previously picked up Good Place, Law & Order: True Crime, and Taken along with Emerald City, which has been on the bench forever.
Trial & Error is a new comedy spoofing the popularity of TV shows like "Making a Murderer." It is centered on a young city lawyer who heads to a small southern town to defend an eccentric professor accused of murdering his wife. The all star cast includes John Lithgow, Nick D'Agosto, Steven Boyer, Sherri Shepherd, Jayma Mays, and Krysta Rodriguez.
Powerless is a comedy set in the DC Comics universe. It is centered on a young insurance adjuster who stands up to superheros who cause a huge mess in the city when they are fighting crime. This makes her somewhat of a hero as well to the masses. Powerless stars Vanessa Hudgens, Danny Pudi, Alan Tudyk, and Christina Kirk. Both these shows, but perhaps especially Powerless, seem like they could be a pair with Superstore.
