At the beginning of week two, week one winner NBC stayed on top with another successful Monday night. The Voice continued to be a monster as it was up four tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo from a strong performance last week. However, the blind auditions are now over and that has typically been when the show starts dropping. So how will things go next week? At 10pm, Revolution dropped nine tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. Even with the drop and worse retention, it still dominated the hour in the demo and still got over a 3 in the demo for its third week. By comparison, week three of Smash got a 2.3 demo and that was with a 6.0 lead-in from the Superbowl hangover from The Voice. So it's no surprise that NBC ordered a full season of Revolution. It is still the darling of the freshman class for now.
CBS has seen its once dominant lineup slump badly this year and things did not look better in week two. How I Met Your Mother was down six tenths in viewers and three tenths in the demo while week two of new sitcom Partners was down eight tenths in viewers and three tenths in the demo. How long will CBS let this show bring down the night before Rules of Engagement arrives? My guess is not long since it's such a high profile night for CBS. At 9pm, 2 Broke Girls was down nine tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. While it was the top scripted demo of the night, it is not doing well enough for the 9pm anchor slot that has seen some of TV's biggest hits ever. At 9:30pm, Mike & Molly was down a million viewers and two tenths in the demo. The only good news of the night came at 10pm where Hawaii Five-0 was down a tenth in viewers but up two tenths in the demo from the series low it got last week. It looks like it might have gotten some of Revolution's audience back and CBS is hoping that trend continues.
ABC had another rough Monday as Dancing with the Stars fell a troubling 1.7 million viewers and four tenths in the demo. It couldn't even beat The Voice in total viewers and these are real troubling numbers for a show that ABC devotes three hours a week to. It seems like the reality fatigue hitting every show except The Voice is hitting Dancing extra hard. It also impacted Castle which fell a tenth in viewers and two tenths in the demo, finishing third in the demo for the hour. On FOX, Bones was down six tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo while The Mob Doctor fell four tenths in viewers and another three tenths in the demo to a pitiful 1.0. I expect a cancellation this week for The Mob Doctor which would make it the first cancelled show of the season (unless Partners comes first but I doubt it).
