In another renewal announcement, FOX has renewed another of its animated sitcoms - American Dad! for another season. While FOX had already renewed through next season (animated shows take a longer time in production), many thought they may just use it in random timeslots to burn off the remaining episodes after FOX moved it to 7:30pm on Sundays this spring. Instead, they gave it another season, renewing it through 2012-2013, which will be the show's eighth season.
This season, airing at both 9:30pm and now 7:30pm, it has averaged a so-so 5.3 million viewers and a 2.5 in the demo. The good news it that it hasn't dropped a ton since moving to 7:30pm. Among animated sitcoms, it joins The Simpsons, The Cleveland Show, and Family Guy in renewals. Only the freshman Bob's Burgers remains up in the air. Other FOX renewals are Glee and Raising Hope. Other sure bets for renewal include House, Bones, American Idol, Hell's Kitchen Cops, and America's Most Wanted. Current toss-ups include The Chicago Code, Million Dollar Money Drop, Fringe, Kitchen Nightmares, Lie to Me, and Human Target while Traffic Light is likely to join The Good Guys, Lone Star, and Running Wilde on the cancelled list. Still to debut is the comedy Breaking In.
