ABC aired its usual lineup to mixed results. No Ordinary Family only fell a bit after big falls the first couple weeks but still didn't capitalize on a rerun of Glee. It slipped .3 in viewers and a tenth in the demo. ABC will try this show out at 9pm for a few weeks after Thanksgiving. Dancing with the Stars Results was also down a bit in viewers and the demo. Detroit 1-8-7 managed to reverse its negative rating trend in Week 5 as it gained nearly a million viewers and was up a tenth in the demo (and only down a tenth from Parenthood). ABC is preempting this show a lot in November, hopefully that will not hurt its audience as it is a very good show that finally showed some signs of life.

CBS had a great Tuesday with gains across the board. NCIS was up slightly in viewers but up almost half a point in the demo to hit a season high. Though you wouldn't think there's much crossover in fans between Glee and NCIS, it appears that CBS's flagship drama benefited from the FOX rerun. NCIS: Los Angeles was down a tenth in viewers but also hit a season high in the demo and also beat the Dancing results show in both viewers and the demo. The Good Wife continued the trend and was up a bit in viewers and again, hit a season high in the demo for an easy win in the hour. Overall, a great night for CBS.

NBC had another mediocre night. The Biggest Loser gained a tenth in viewers and was even in the demo. These numbers are still way down from last year as it often would be easily above 9 million viewers and a 3 in the demo. Maybe it's time to reduce this to an hour? Especially with all the recent full season orders and midseason shows still to come. Parenthood followed and was up a hair in viewers but down a tenth in the demo for a season low. For a show that many thought could win the demo in this hour, it is dangerously close to falling to third in that category.

FOX aired repeats for the first hour and a half which obviously brought their numbers way down. A Glee repeat was below 6 million viewers but still managed to almost beat No Ordinary Family in the demo, falling just a tenth behind. Raising Hope actually had quite respectable numbers for a repeat of the pilot but a new Running Wilde fell apart, easily hitting season lows and it is now well below numbers for the cancelled My Generation, Outlaw, and FOX's own Lone Star. With FOX double pumping Raising Hope next week and then November sweeps, was this the last we'll see of Running Wilde? It wouldn't surprise me one bit.

EPISODE GUIDES: That 70s Show Season Seven

On Thursdays, I go through classic series with a critical look at each season. Today I am looking at Season Seven of  That 70s Show ! THAT 70s SHOW: SEASON SEVEN 2004-2005 25 episodes The seventh season of  That 70s Show  is the final season with Topher Grace as a series regular and also the final full season for Ashton Kutcher. Despite still having both of those cast member, the show finds itself flailing especially with Topher Grace's Eric, who is stuck in a terrible arc for most of the season. The show also brings many characters back at one point or another but everything just feels tired. This season actually graded out the worst for me. Even worse than the often maligned final season (more on that next week). Every title this season is named for a Rolling Stones song. Starring Topher Grace as Eric Forman  (25 episodes) Mila Kunis as Jackie Burkhart  (25 episodes) Ashton Kutcher as Michael Kelso  (25 episodes) Danny Masterson as Steven Hyde  (25 e...

EPISODE GUIDES: Rhoda Season Five

On Thursdays, I go through classic series with a critical look at each season. Today I am looking at Season Five (the final season) of  Rhoda ! RHODA: SEASON FIVE 1978 13 episodes Rhoda' s final season was a truncated one as the show was cancelled in December 1978 after only 13 episodes had been produced (and only nine had aired). This feels like a continuation from season four in many ways except with the ill-advised split between Ida and Martin (more on that below). While  Rhoda  has an occasional good moment and even a couple decent episodes, it is a show that seems so wildly different from season one and not in a good way.  Rhoda  could never figure out what it fully wanted to be and only made it four and a half seasons as a result. Starring Valerie Harper as Rhoda Morgenstern  (13 episodes) Julie Kavner as Brenda Morgenstern  (13 episodes) Ray Buktenica as Benny Goodwin  (11 episodes) Kenneth McMillan as Jack Doyle  (9 episodes) Nancy Wa...

SCHEDULES OF THE PAST: 1995-1996 Thursdays

On Tuesdays, I take a look at schedules from yesteryear. Here's a look at Thursdays in the 1995-96 season! Mar Apr May NBC was the powerhouse on Thursday nights but ABC still gave it the old college try in the Fall of 1995 with a trio of new dramas that they hoped would help them cut into the Peacock's dominance. Headlining their night was Murder One , a high profile new show from Steven Bochco that received much of the network's attention before the season started. The series focused on one murder case for an entire season, whi...
