On Friday night, CBS's dramas were new for the first time since December 2 and saw gains across the board. At 8pm, A Gifted Man was up four tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo, hitting a series high in the latter category. It looks like this show, which has done well in a time period CBS has struggled in but not well overall, will not go down without a fight. CBS might want to think twice about dropping a show that's showing signs of life in a slot where Medium, The Defenders, and Chaos failed in last year. At 9pm, CSI: NY was up eight tenths in viewers and a nice four tenths in the demo from the series lows it hit back in December. At 10pm, Blue Bloods was up two tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. All in all, not a bad performance for CBS on this first Friday of the new year.

Meanwhile, ABC was all new with the penultimate week of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The show was up from recent weeks and it should rise again for next week's series finale. At 10pm, 20/20 was up two tenths in viewers and the demo from its last airing two weeks ago. NBC was all new to start and end the night. Chuck was up two tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo from last week. The show will end its run at the end of the month. At 10pm, Dateline NBC was down three tenths in viewers but up two tenths in the demo. FOX aired the Cotton Bowl, which was the top demo draw of the night.
