GOOD WEEK: "GREY'S ANATOMY"
ABC was the only network to broadcast new episodes all week and saw a mix of gains and drops, but the best news came from veteran drama Grey's Anatomy. The show delivered a very strong 12.1 million viewers and 4.5 demo for its best numbers of the season. Yes, the competition was weak but this show quietly remains one of the top demo draws of any drama on network TV. It's looked on as a problem because it has dropped so significantly from its peak a few years back, but the fact remains that it can still deliver in the all-important demo. It will for sure drop when the other networks are new again but it's not going anywhere anytime soon, nor should it.
BAD WEEK: "WORK IT"
Not everything was good news for ABC though as the new comedy Work It debuted to terrible reviews (the worst for a scripted network show on metacritic since 2007's Cavemen) and then the ratings didn't deliver. It debuted four tenths below the low-rated premiere of Man Up back in October. If the audience didn't check out this show out of curiosity, it certainly won't in Week 2. Some may hold hope for coming weeks but that is foolish. It's dead in the water. ABC needs to get a solid multicamera family comedy for next season and pair it with Last Man Standing and then they will have carved out a comedy presence on Tuesday.
