BENJAMONSTER AWARDS 2024: Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited/Anthology Series

Today's award is Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited/Anthology Series!

Past Awards in This Category: 2023   2022   2021   2020

This year's nominees are...

DAVE FOLEY as Danish Graves in Fargo (FX)

JOHN HAWKES as Hank Prior in True Detective: Night Country (HBO)

LAMORNE MORRIS as Deputy Witt Farr in Fargo (FX)

GLENN MORSHOWER as Andrew Johnson in Manhunt (Apple TV+)

CLIVE OWEN as Andy Ronson in A Murder at the End of the World (FX/Hulu)

LEWIS PULLMAN as Calvin Evans in Lessons in Chemistry (Apple TV+)

And the Winner Is...
LAMORNE MORRIS
Fargo (FX)
I first loved Lamorne Morris as the ever wacky Winston on New Girl and here he was playing a cop again, albeit in a much different show. Fargo is famous for complicated characters but Lamorne Morris' Deputy Witt Farr was truly one of the good guys. He may have not been the best cop ever but there wasn't a bad bone in his body and that's what made his story all the more heartbreaking. Though the journey didn't have a happy ending, he had a lot of fun along the way. Morris nailed the dark comedy elements of Fargo but also proved he could carry some dramatic scenes.

Thoughts on the Rest of the Nominees:
This was sort of an unusual category with some strong performances but no major standout. Morris' co-star Dave Foley had some really compelling moments and a spectacular final episode/scene as the outrageous Danish Graves. He was close to winning this category but his arc wasn't as strong overall as Morris. Glenn Morshower was really great as Andrew Johnson in Manhunt, I wish he had been asked to do more. Clive Owen did a nice job as a mysterious figure in A Murder at the End of the World. John Hawkes kept us guessing to his motivations and involvement through the end of True Detective: Night Country. Finally, Lewis Pullman was really charming in the first couple episodes of Lessons in Chemistry to set up the series well.

Tomorrow: Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series!
