GOOD WEEK/BAD WEEK: February 2, 2013

GOOD WEEK: "CHICAGO FIRE"
This week is the NBC 10pm edition. In the fall, Chicago Fire seemed to be the least touted of NBC's new shows. Go On and Animal Practice got Olympics previews. The New Normal and Guys with Kids premiered out of popular reality shows, and Revolution got a major advertising blitz and NBC's best timeslot. The new Dick Wolf drama Chicago Fire got a late premiere against the heavily hyped Nashville and NBC didn't seem too invested. But then it continued to surprise and has outperformed its series premiere several times. The show is arguably NBC's biggest overperformer and a surprise success story from the fall. Now it could drop this week when both Nashville and CSI are new again but the future seems bright for this show.

BAD WEEK: "DO NO HARM"
The future is considerably less bright for NBC's new Jekyll and Hyde drama. In the slot formerly occupied by mammoth hits LA Law and ER, Do No Harm premiered to a paltry 0.9 demo, the worst drama demo premiere EVER on the big four networks. NBC did not seem very invested in promoting the show and it was critically panned but still, no drama has ever premiered so DOA. This show will obviously not survive. The only question is whether NBC lets it stay on the air much longer. I doubt it.
