Ahead of its Monday return, FOX announced last week that it has renewed veteran drama Bones for an eighth season. Bones has had its renewal come down to the wire before but that was not the case this year with House ending and many of FOX's new dramas (Terra Nova, Alcatraz, The Finder) failing. FOX will be counting on Bones to be a solid anchor even though it may be starting to decline as well. Through six episodes of its shortened season (due to co-star Emily Deschanel's pregnancy) it has averaged 8.8 million viewers and a 2.7 demo.
Bones joins previously announced renewals American Dad!, The Cleveland Show, Family Guy, Kitchen Nightmares, The Simpsons, and The X-Factor. American Idol, Glee, and New Girl are certain to join them while Bob's Burgers, Cops, Fringe, Napoleon Dynamite, Raising Hope, and Touch are on the bubble. Likely cancellations include Alcatraz, Breaking In, The Finder, and I Hate My Teenage Daughter.
