CANCELLATION ALERT: Running Wilde

File this under news that everyone knew but was never officially confirmed. FOX's freshman sitcom Running Wilde will officially not return. Although its order was limited to 13 episodes and 4 have not even been scheduled, it was still never officially cancelled until FOX president Kevin Reilly said today at the TCA Winter Tour that it won't be coming back. Airing after the hit Glee and the niche success Raising Hope, Wilde started weak and fell from there. Through eight episodes aired in its regular slot, it has averaged a very weak 3.8 million viewers and a 1.6 in the demo and it fell as low as 2.9 million viewers and a 1.1 demo at one point.

Out of the three shows launched this fall for FOX, Running Wilde is the second cancellation. The good news is that the third show, Raising Hope, was officially given a second season (post coming in a minute). FOX also announced that the other cancellation Lone Star's six remaining episodes will be aired at some point. Late night Saturday seems likely for that but it will be great to see that show. As for Wilde, it supposedly found its footing later on but the show was so terrible at the beginning, it's no surprise that the limited audience that sampled it soon rejected it.
