CBS had a mixed bag of results. At 8pm, The Big Bang Theory couldn't capitalize on its big pre-holiday episode or its usual January bounce as it was down 1.5 million viewers and three tenths in the demo. This has been the week in the past where it has posted a season high but that is not the case this season. The next two shows held up quite well, however. Life in Pieces was down nine tenths in viewers but even in the demo while Mom was down two tenths in viewers and even in the demo. Both shows tied their Thursday high set in December. They led into the series premiere of Angel From Hell. The new single-cam comedy disappointed with only a 1.6 demo. It wasn't too far off of Mom's numbers, but it had a lot of promotion and this seems like a pretty decent rejection from CBS viewers because I'm sure it will drop from here. If that's the case, 2 Broke Girls or Mike & Molly may find themselves here after the Wednesday run. At 10pm, Elementary was up eight tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. CBS announced today that Elementary will move to Sundays at 10pm on March 20 and Rush Hour will replace it in this slot on March 31.
ABC's decision to basically punt on Thursdays for the month of January is not looking good. At 8pm, Beyond the Tank did decently enough with 4.3 million viewers and a 1.0 demo. But new reality show My Diet is Better Than Yours was completely ignored by viewers with a horrible 0.7 demo for its premiere. Will ABC really let this air for two hours each week until TGIT returns? A 0.7 demo got The Assets pulled from Thursdays in January two years ago and that was only taking up an hour. Its two years later, but still. Finally on FOX, night two of American Idol was down a million viewers and three tenths in the demo from its season premiere on Wednesday.
WINNER OF THE NIGHT: Shades of Blue (NBC)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: My Diet is Better Than Yours (ABC)
