On the Championship Game Sunday, FOX dealt with a blowout game but it still delivered a huge 45.7 million viewers and 15.7 demo. This was above the 42.1 million/13.9 demo that last year's primetime game garnered. While the game was predictably huge, FOX had a great night from the return of The X-Files. The anticipation and scheduling lived up to the hype with a big 6.1 demo and 16.2 million viewers. The demo nearly doubled what Scorpion got last year for CBS in the lead-out slot. There was clearly a lot of interest and excitement for the return of one of the most popular shows of the 90s. CBS had a mammoth audience for its afternoon game - the best ratings for an AFC Championship Game since 1986 - but it didn't have any positive impact in their primetime except 60 Minutes got a slight bump perhaps. But most people switched over to Panthers-Cardinals. Finally on ABC, Galavant was their only new programming and it fell two tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo to a pretty pitiful series low.
