Though it has not been confirmed by CBS, several stars of Mike & Molly have confirmed that the upcoming sixth season of the sitcom will be the show's last, and it has been trimmed from 22 episodes to 13 episodes.
Mike & Molly premiered in 2010 and has always been a solid but unspectacular performer for CBS. In its first year, it initially followed Two and a Half Men, but that show stopped airing new episodes in February due to Charlie Sheen's meltdown. It got a boost in its second year following the heralded return of Men. Since then, it's become a utility player. This is the third season in a row that it didn't get a spot on the fall schedule. Also since it's premiered, star Melissa McCarthy has become a huge film star. Many suspected she wouldn't want to stick with the show, but she tweeted today that she was "heartbroken" and would have done it for "50 more years."
Mike & Molly will air on Wednesday nights starting in January. When its season wraps, it will have aired 127 episodes and already has a life in reruns in syndication.
