On Friday night, ABC had the series premiere of its new Shark Tank spinoff. First up, the original Shark Tank was down eight tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo from last week, which may have benefited from the Bruce Jenner interview following it last week. Beyond the Tank premiered with a decent 1.6 demo, but the better news is it fully retained the Shark audience. I think ABC should consider having this be a summer series. It doesn't seem strong enough (or necessary) to have a regular slot during the season but it could be a good Friday night player in the summer. For now, it will only air for three weeks. At 10pm, 20/20 was down 1.3 million viewers and two tenths in the demo from its last edition two weeks ago.
On CBS, The Amazing Race started things out down three tenths in viewers and even in the demo. The dramas bounced back from last week against the Jenner competition. Hawaii Five-0 was up two tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo while the season finale of Blue Bloods was up 1.3 million viewers and three tenths in the demo, ending on a good note. I don't think this show is going anywhere from this slot. Finally on NBC, Grimm was down half a million viewers and a tenth in the demo for a series low. This shows has lost some steam in the spring. At 9pm, Dateline NBC was up a million viewers a tenth in the demo.
WINNER OF THE NIGHT: Blue Bloods (CBS)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: Grimm (NBC)
