Monday night had a season premiere for CBS and it did not go well. First up, The Big Bang Theory was up seven tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo from last week in its final Monday airing. It will return to Thursdays next week as Thursday Night Football will be over. At 8:30pm was the season premiere of The Millers and it retained a pretty horrible 44% of its lead-in. The viewer total was a series low and the demo was close. It's only going to get uglier for this show next week when it has 2 Broke Girls as a lead-in instead. Last year, it seemed like a timeslot hit and now it can't even do that with a big lead-in. It couldn't even come close to what Big Bang repeats were getting the last couple weeks. The best news for CBS was that Scorpion was not negatively impacted. It was down seven tenths in viewers and even in the demo despite a much lower (and perhaps more incompatible) lead-in. At 10pm, NCIS: Los Angeles was down four tenths in viewers and up a tenth in the demo. It beat Castle for the first time in the hour, but that says more about what happened to Castle (more on that below).
The Voice appears headed for its regular late season dive as it fell 1.4 million viewers and six tenths in the demo. This was a pretty steep drop for still being the Battle Rounds. At 10pm, The Blacklist followed its lead-in down as it fell half a million viewers and four tenths in the demo. Not the best night for the NBC duo. Over on ABC, Dancing with the Stars was down a tenth in viewers and even in the demo. Things were odd at 10pm where Castle plunged four tenths in viewers and the demo for a demo series low. I don't really understand what happened here as the lead-in and the competition were the same. ABC has to be hoping this was just a blip, we'll see next week. Finally on FOX, Gotham inched down another three tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo while Sleepy Hollow was up two tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo for its best performance since the season premiere.
WINNER OF THE NIGHT: Scorpion (CBS)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: The Millers (CBS)
