In a move that everyone knew was coming despite the kinks that needed to be worked out, FOX has renewed the long running medical drama House for next season. There were some rumors about budget cuts needed and deals to sign, but the show will be back now for its eighth and quite possibly final season next year. Through 21 episodes (including last night), it has averaged 10.0 million viewers and 3.6 in the demo though last night hit a season low in total viewers. It is also well below what it was getting a few years ago as it has dropped a lot in recent years.
With FOX's upfront a week away, House joins American Dad!, Bob's Burgers, Bones, The Cleveland Show, Family Guy, Fringe, Glee, Hell's Kitchen, Raising Hope, and The Simpsons as shows already renewed next season. Family Guy and The Cleveland Show have also been renewed through 2012-2013 as of yesterday. FOX doesn't have much space left with X-Factor coming so the only dramas not cancelled or renewed are Lie to Me, The Chicago Code, and Human Target. Of the three, Chicago probably has the best chance of coming back. Breaking In has a decent chance as well while Kitchen Nightmares, America's Most Wanted, and Cops are sure to be used in some way (possibly Million Dollar Money Drop as well).
