The first award is Outstanding Technical Design of a Limited/Anthology Series! This award considers all technical elements of a show including sets, costumes, and cinematography.
This year's nominees are...
ADOLESCENCE (Netflix)
DISCLAIMER (Apple TV+)
MONSTERS: THE LYLE AND ERIK MENENDEZ STORY (Netflix)
THE PENGUIN (HBO)
THE PERFECT COUPLE (Netflix)
THE WHITE LOTUS (HBO)
And the Winner Is...
THE WHITE LOTUS
HBO
For the third time, The White Lotus takes home this prize. It's hard to compete with a lavish paradise setting where Mike White has an incredible eye for capturing the feel of the location. I'm not sure this year's Thailand setting was quite as immersive as Hawaii in the first season and Italy in the second season, but it certainly was a stunning feat of visual television as these White Lotus seasons always are. There were less cuts to water this time around and more cuts to monkeys, which fueled a whole fan theory about the ending. But Mike White just continues to deliver with these picturesque settings amidst a story of murder and mayhem. And it hasn't been mentioned in any of these awards before for Lotus but the costumes for each character are always so on point. Let's see what exciting locale is in store for the fourth season!
Thoughts on the Rest of the Nominees:
The closest competitor to The White Lotus was The Penguin, which created a dark and gritty Gotham city and of course had the prosthetics for Colin Farrell and a dazzling wardrobe for Cristin Milioti. Disclaimer was a mess as a show, but there's no denying that Alfonso Cuaron knows how to make visually appealing scenes. Adolescence could definitely make a case for the win with each episode being a "oner" even if that term has gotten a bit gimmicky. Monsters evoked the late 80s/early 90s vibe with its visual language and The Perfect Couple was the most glamorous of the several White Lotus clones that came on the air.
Tomorrow: Outstanding Technical Design of a Drama Series!
