Sunday night was, of course, all about Super Bowl 50. 111.9 million viewers tuned into the big game, which is slightly below the 2015 and 2014 totals. The 37.7 demo is also slightly lower than the last couple years. But that's nitpicking, this was still a huge event that dwarfs everything else in the year by a mile. The coveted post-Super Bowl slot went to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which had a later start than many post-Super Bowl shows. While it was an easy all-time high for Colbert, it was an all-time low for lead-out shows. Then again, this is a cheaper option that got extra exposure for a show that airs nightly on CBS. So, it was not a bad call.
