Monday night had good things for all the networks. While there wasn't The Voice or Monday Night Football, there was formidable competition and a lot of shows came away with good results. On ABC, the season premiere of The Bachelor ran for three hours. It was down half a demo point from last year's premiere and hit a series low. It's still a strong show, but it seems as though it may be past its recent surprisingly strong numbers. Over on NBC, Celebrity Apprentice continued its surprising renaissance with another solid night. After its 2.3 demo premiere on Sunday, it was down just three tenths to a 2.0 demo in its regular timeslot. This is the biggest surprise ratings to me in awhile. I really thought it would tank as interest seemed to be waning in recent years. That just goes to show how a year off can help matters for tired reality shows. That was no help to State of Affairs, which was down a tenth in viewers and even in the demo at a pitiful 1.0.
CBS seemed to benefit the most from the different mix of competition. At 8pm, 2 Broke Girls was up 1.3 million viewers and three tenths in the demo, tying the season high from the season premiere. Mike & Molly followed at 8:30pm and was up 1.3 million viewers and four tenths in the demo for a season high. It did well airing with repeats surrounded by it the last two weeks and it took that momentum with it. At 9pm, Scorpion was up a big 2.2 million viewers and four tenths in the demo for its best performance since October 20. NCIS: Los Angeles closed out the night up 2.4 million viewers and four tenths in the demo for a season high. FOX had a great return of Gotham. It was up a million viewers and two tenths in the demo for its best performance since October 6. Other than State of Affairs, the only other bad news was for Sleepy Hollow, which was even in viewers and up a tenth in the demo from its last airing, which was behind a Gotham repeat.
WINNER OF THE NIGHT: Celebrity Apprentice (NBC)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: State of Affairs (NBC)
