In an unsurprising move, FOX has renewed Bones for a 10th season. They also announced that it will return to Mondays at 8pm on March 10 after Almost Human has wrapped its freshman season.
Bones has become FOX's best utility players in recent years as it has been bounced all around the schedule and continued to do well. This year, it aired on Mondays to start the season and proved to be a good companion to surprise freshman hit Sleepy Hollow. But it was sent to Fridays in November to make room for the new Almost Human. After a couple rough outings, its audience has followed it to Fridays where it just posted a high for the night last week. A renewal for next season was never in doubt and it's currently the only FOX drama airing a whole season with shows like Hollow and The Following airing for just half a season. This upcoming season could be the veteran drama's last.
Bones joins Bob's Burgers, Glee, Masterchef Junior, The Simpsons, and Sleepy Hollow as renewals for next season. Sure to join that list are American Idol, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Family Guy, and New Girl. On the bubble are Almost Human, The Following, The Mindy Project, and The X Factor with Dads, Raising Hope, Rake, and Enlisted unlikely to return. Still to premiere this season for FOX is Surviving Jack, 24: Live Another Day, and Gang Related as well as the new season of Kitchen Nightmares, which will take over the Friday 8pm slot when Bones returns to Mondays.
