Here are some quick thoughts on the Emmys:
-- Biggest snubs: Amy Poehler (again!) and Kerry Washington
-- The individual memorial tributes were ill-conceived. How is Cory Monteith more significant to the industry than three time Emmy winner Jack Klugman or icon Larry Hagman?
-- Best moments of the night: Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus' acceptance speech with Tony Hale (even though Poehler deserved to win), Will Ferrell's bit at the end, the well-deserved standing ovation for Bob Newhart
-- Neil Patrick Harris is usually a master host but I thought he was very flat last night: only a few good lines and not very enthusiastic. He makes a much better Tonys host
-- I love Carrie Underwood but her singing "Yesterday" and the whole 1963 tribute was very, very odd
-- I guess Modern Family was deserving in its category but to win for a fourth time after a so-so season wasn't anything exciting
