On Sunday night, NBC did not have football but it did have a special season premiere of The Biggest Loser. After a cycle off, it returned much higher than it was last spring which is a positive sign for a franchise that was getting very tired. Other franchises would be wise to take a cycle off at times too (I'm looking at you, Dancing with the Stars). FOX had a hugely rated NFL playoff game leading into their animated lineup and the result was, not surprisingly, season highs. Especially of note was Bob's Burgers pulling its best numbers since the series premiere two years ago.
Over on CBS, 60 Minutes had no football lead-in and was down a million viewers and two tenths in the demo from last week. After a Person of Interest repeat, The Good Wife was up three tenths in viewers and even in the demo. At 10pm, The Mentalist benefited from no football competition and very little ABC competition as it was up seven tenths in viewers and three tenths in the demo to tie a season high.
Finally on ABC, the dramas returned after about a month off. Once Upon a Time was dead even with its last airing at a very strong 3.1. This is a great return from hiatus for one of TV's top drama demo performers. At 9pm, Revenge was down six tenths in viewers and even in the demo, though it had a troubling drop at the half hour. At 10pm, ABC yanked 666 Park Avenue in favor of more episodes of their low rated Tuesday comedies. The results were disastrous as Happy Endings and Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 were even lower than than Park. I know this is practically a burnoff, but this is a terrible performance.
