GOOD WEEK: "NCIS"
The veteran CBS shows are showing their muscle in recent weeks. After The Big Bang Theory soared to new highs last week, popular drama NCIS came within decimal points of breaking an all time viewership record. It soared from its last new episode before Christmas and will easily be the most watched show of the week in a week that saw American Idol return. Despite being in its 10th (!) season, the show is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down and remains a cornerstone to CBS programming. For some reason, it never gets the flashy press other hits do but it has been rock solid for years now and that's very impressive.
BAD WEEK: NBC'S MIDSEASON NEWBIES
NBC had a strong fall for its newbies as Revolution, Chicago Fire, and Go On all overperformed and The New Normal and Guys with Kids didn't completely collapse. But the new entries at midseason aren't faring as well. Both Deception and 1600 Penn took major nosedives this week to barely acceptable numbers. NBC expected things to be worse in this Voice-less couple months but they won't tolerate the freshmen barely contending. With more shows stockpiled now, these will be easy to part with and I'm sure they will unless we see a surprising and unlikely turnaround.
