It's another month of the Freshman Scorecard! As always, these are ranked by network from my opinion of best to worst chance for renewal. By the time the December scorecard rolls around, Almost Human will be added to the list and there may be some more cancellations, we'll see.
Past November scorecards: 2012 2011 2010
ABC
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - Well it has not been as powerful as ABC hoped, it is still getting better numbers than existing veteran dramas Nashville, Once Upon a Time, Castle, and Revenge. It would have to fall a lot more to not get a second season.
The Goldbergs - I have no idea what ABC is going to do for the rest of this season with their new comedies, much less next season. But of the four, I like The Goldbergs' chances the best because ABC seems to be behind it and its hold with a Marvel repeat this week was a good sign.
Back in the Game - This is the biggest question mark for me. It's not as compatible as The Middle or getting big DVR bounces but of the four new comedies, it had the highest total viewer count and seems like it could grow. I could see it being a Friday show down the road.
Super Fun Night - It's doing OK right now but I think it's going to continue to fall and it doesn't have the family angle that makes it compatible with other ABC sitcoms.
Trophy Wife - It has the worst chance of the freshmen but don't count it out. It has a lot of support and has been pretty stable since an early drop.
Once Upon a Time in Wonderland - Really this show is just riding it out at this point. I'd be surprised to see it last beyond 13 episodes.
Betrayal - I'd be even less surprised to see Betrayal last beyond 13 episodes.
Lukcy 7 - Cancelled.
CBS
The Crazy Ones - The comedies on every network is a logjam in my mind but for CBS, I'll give the edge to The Crazy Ones because it has done a good job with a difficult task of being a 9pm anchor. Also, like The Goldbergs on ABC, CBS has put considerable marketing muscle into this one which shows it values it a lot.
The Millers - The raw numbers are good here and that helps its case, but its retention is pretty terrible and CBS has been known to cancel shows like that in the past like Rob and $#*! My Dad Says.
Mom - I don't think its chances are much worse than The Crazy Ones or Mom because it has had extenuating circumstances thanks to the problematic Monday lineup. Let's see how things go with Mike & Molly as a lead-in starting next week.
Hostages - It's dead and the only question is will CBS keep all 15 episodes on Monday or will it be benched to Fridays or Saturdays?
We Are Men - Cancelled.
NBC
The Blacklist - Probably the surest thing to a renewal besides the already renewed Sleepy Hollow. It seems like a better version of Revolution and Smash and both those shows got renewed.
Dracula - Well it's only been one week but the early signs are encouraging that it could carve out a Friday night niche. But that could change in a big way after this week.
The Michael J. Fox Show - It will air all season thanks to its 22 episode order, but it's going to have to show some major improvement to get a second season.
Sean Saves the World - I think the best this show can hope for is a full season or additional episodes. A second season seems extremely unlikely.
Welcome to the Family/Ironside - Cancelled.
FOX
Sleepy Hollow - Already renewed for season two but will only air 13 episodes this season.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine - This is The Crazy Ones and The Goldbergs for FOX. They have put considerable marketing behind it and it's getting the Super Bowl slot with New Girl. If The Mindy Project could get renewed, this certainly should be able to.
Junior Masterchef - I could easily see this getting another Friday night slot next fall or summer airings down the road.
Dads - The full season was a victory for this critically maligned show. But a second season seems like a tall order especially with Brooklyn being FOX's top comedy priority.
