Wednesday night was pretty brutal for the broadcast networks. ABC was fully new again but it was not positive. At 8pm, The Middle was down 1.1 million viewers and three tenths in the demo from its last new airing for a season low. At 8:30pm, the season finale of The Neighbors was up seven tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo but it followed a repeat last week. We'll see in May what ABC does with this show. It could truly go either way, it probably depends on if ABC wants to add more comedy. At 9pm, Modern Family was down 1.4 million viewers and a rough seven tenths in the demo to its lowest number since November 2009. What a bad drop, I'm not really sure what explains it. At 9:30pm, Suburgatory was up 1.1 million viewers and four tenths in the demo from last week when it followed a repeat. Finally at 10pm, Nashville was even in viewers but down a tenth in the demo for a series low. Yet, it's still ABC's top new drama. Yikes. On CBS, Survivor was the only new show and it was down four tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo.

On NBC, the halo effect of The Voice did not affect Wednesday's lineup as all as things were pretty bleak.Whitney were down two tenths in viewers and even in the demo from last week. Who knows what's going to happen with NBC's comedies next year. It's anyone's guess. At 9pm, Law & Order: SVU was up 1.1 million viewers and a tenth in the demo. At 10pm, Chicago Fire was up half a million viewers and even in the demo. It has risen more against CBS's repeats in the past and it didn't build on its lead-in for the first time since November. Looks like Fire is not burning quite as brightly as the season winds down, but it's still a slam dunk renewal. On FOX, American Idol couldn't stop the bleeding as it dipped another six tenths in viewers and four tenths in the demo. This is getting pretty ugly with the year-to-year drops.
The final two episodes of the season for
