The pilot pickups are coming a little early this year with FOX already picking up two shows to series, 24: Legacy and Star. Both were near sure things through the development process. They join the already picked up Son of Zorn, Shots Fired, and the Prison Break reboot.
24: Legacy is the newest entry in the 24 franchise but it will not be with former star Kiefer Sutherland. Instead, it is more of a "sequel" than a continuation like 24: Live Another Day was. This incarnation stars Corey Hawkins, Miranda Otto, and Jimmy Smits. It will run in real time as the 24 shows did but it will only air 12 episodes a year so there will be time jumps between episodes.
Star comes from Empire creator Lee Daniels and is another music drama. Starring Queen Latifah, Benjamin Bratt, and Nicholas Gonzalez, as well as newcomers Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, and Brittany O'Grady playing singers trying to make it in a cutthroat music business in Atlanta. It seems destined to be paired with Empire at some point next season.
