PILOT REVIEW: Superstore

SUPERSTORE Starring: America Ferrera, Ben Feldman, Lauren Ash, Colton Dunn, Nico Santos, Nichole Bloom, and Mark McKinney Created by Justin Spitzer Written by Justin Spitzer, Directed by Ruben Fleischer THE PREMISE Superstore is a new ensemble workplace comedy set at a "big box" department store called Cloud 9. It focuses on a few of the employees, led by 10 year vet and floor manager, the straight-laced Amy (America Ferrera). Her humdrum world is thrown with the arrival of new associate Jonah (Ben Feldman), who seems set on changing up their world. Other employees include the Dwight Schrute-type assistant manager Dina (Lauren Ash), ditzy and pregnant Cheyenne (Nichole Bloom), fast talking, paraplegic Garrett (Colton Dunn), and fellow new associate, Mateo (Nico Santos). Their boss is the dorky Glenn (Mark McKinney). THE REVIEW I found Superstore to be surprisingly charming and funny. It starts with a first-rate cast that makes the most of the material a...

WEEKEND REWIND: Top 10 Thanksgiving Episodes

As I did recently with  Halloween episodes , I am updating my Holiday episodes rankings this year as things have changed since  my list during the 2010-11 season . Close Calls 15) Home Improvement #160 "Thanksgiving" (November 25, 1997) 14) Brooklyn Nine-Nine #10 "Thanksgiving" (November 26, 2013) 13) Everybody Loves Raymond #10 "Turkey or Fish" (November 22, 1996) 12) WKRP in Cincinnati #7 "Turkey's Away" (October 30, 1978) 11) How I Met Your Mother #53 "Slapsgiving" (November 19, 2007) 10) New Girl #32 "Parents" (November 20, 2012) One of the best episodes from New Girl 's stand-out second season was the episode that introduced Rob Reiner and Jamie Lee Curtis as Jess' divorced parents. Jess still acts like a little girl in her failed attempts to bring her parents back together, Parent Trap style. Meanwhile, Rob Riggle guest stars as Schmidt's cousin, also named Schmidt. This episode featured all ...

It was up nine tenths in viewers and three tenths in the demo. It had a nice bump but it didn't pick up as much steam at the end of this season. At 10pm, Castle was even with last week. I am shocked that ABC didn't move this for midseason, and I truly don't get it. Over on NBC, The Voice clearly took a hit from Dancing with the Stars  as it fell nine tenths in viewers and...
