CBS renewed two successful comedies for another season: Mom for a third season and Mike & Molly for a sixth season.
After initially being planned for a second season on Mondays, Mom got an upgrade in September to the post-Big Bang slot on Thursday. It did quite well there and is up nicely year to year. It recently moved to 9:30pm, but has held up well there. It's been a true success story in its second season. Mike & Molly has become to go-to rescue show. Last year, it replaced the quickly cancelled We Are Men to stabilize Monday nights. This year, it replaced the quickly cancelled second season of The Millers and has once again stabilized Monday nights. It seems under-appreciated by CBS but this is a vote of confidence for the veteran utility player.
Mike & Molly joins Madam Secretary, NCIS: New Orleans, Scorpion, and The Big Bang Theory as earl renewals. Sure to join them are 2 Broke Girls, Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, Hawaii Five-0, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Person of Interest, Survivor, and Undercover Boss. It looks pretty good for The Odd Couple, The Good Wife, Elementary, and probably The Amazing Race. It's not looking so good for CSI (unless it gets a shortened final season), Stalker, and CSI: Cyber while Battle Creek and The McCarthys are as good as gone.
