On Wednesday night, ABC ditched its comedy lineup for the first part of the two part mini-series Madoff starring Richard Dreyfuss. As expected, it skewed old with an OK 7.1 million viewers but a pretty weak 1.2 demo. It did not help matters for American Crime, which was up two tenths in viewers but down a tenth in the demo for the fourth straight week. This demo is a new series low. Over on CBS, 2 Broke Girls was down three tenths in viewers and even in the demo and Mike & Molly was down a tenth in viewers and even in the demo. These comedies have been very steady. Too bad the block can't stay but you also wouldn't want to move Survivor. After a Criminal Minds repeat, Code Black was down six tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo.

On NBC, The Mysteries of Laura was down a tenth in viewers and the demo. Law & Order: SVU took advantage of the Criminal Minds repeat competition. It was up four tenths in viewers and even in the demo. Chicago PD also recovered a bit from its ugly drop last episode. It was up seven tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. NBC could do worse than keeping this lineup in tact for a third year next season. Finally on FOX, American Idol was down four tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo, but it still topped the night. Hell's Kitchen was up four tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo.

WINNER OF THE NIGHT: Law & Order: SVU (NBC)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: American Crime (ABC)
