Blindspot got renewed by NBC on Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night, it got its first 0.8 demo since February. It has been so consistent and that surely played a role in its renewal. So while it probably wouldn't have changed anything, it was ironic that it dropped three tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. At 9pm, Law & Order: SVU was down a tenth in viewers and up a tenth in the demo while Chicago PD ended the night even in viewers and up a tenth in the demo. On ABC, the just renewed (for 2 seasons!) The Goldbergs was even in viewers and down a tenth in the demo to tie a series low last set on May 6, 2014. At 8:30pm, Speechless was down a tenth in viewers and the demo for a series low. The series low parade continued with Modern Family, which was even in viewers and down a tenth in the demo. The bleeding stopped with the season finale of Black-ish, which was up six tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. Is this its last new Wednesday airing? We'll know soon! At 10pm, Designated Survivor was up three tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo.
On CBS, Survivor was even in viewers and down a tenth in the demo. The season finale of Criminal Minds followed and was up seven tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. It's been a disappointing season for Minds, but it ended its season with two episodes that gave the show its best numbers since October. It's already renewed for next season but will this performance help keep it at 9pm? At 10pm, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders was down a tenth in viewers and the demo. On FOX, Shots Fired was even with last week while Empire rebounded nicely from last week's series low, rising seven tenths in viewers and three tenths in the demo. This was an excellent performance for a show that has been on the decline. Finally on the CW, Arrow was up three tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo for its best showing since March 1 while The 100 was even.
WINNER OF THE NIGHT: Empire (FOX)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: The Goldbergs (ABC)
