Reports are out today that CBS has finalized a deal to renew How I Met Your Mother for a ninth season. The deal was held up for awhile because one the stars, Jason Segel, wanted to leave and focus on his film career. However, Segel relented and decided to come back for another year in what will likely be the show's final season.
How I Met Your Mother remains a cornerstone to CBS's comedies as the lead-off Monday show. In a year that has seen lots of problems on Monday for CBS, it has been a priority of the network to get this show renewed. Still, both this show and Two and a Half Men are very old and CBS needs to find some adequate replacements very soon. Mother is the first CBS show to get renewed for 2013-14 and it joins NBC's The Voice as well as American Dad!, Bob's Burgers, Family Guy, The Simpsons, and The X Factor on FOX as the official renewals.
