For only the second time so far this season, a freshman show has earned a renewal. The modestly-rated FOX animated sitcom Bob's Burgers has been picked up for a second season. The newest addition to FOX's Animation Domination lineup had a great debut but fell quickly and settled into relatively low ratings. Through nine episodes, it has averaged 5.2 million viewers and a 2.5 in the demo, but even those numbers are inflated by it's 9.4 million/4.5 demo debut. It's also unclear where Bob's Burgers will air but it's only a 13 episode pickup so maybe it won't air until spring after football. There's also speculation that FOX may expand its animated sitcoms to other nights with more in development.
Bob's Burgers joins a long list of FOX shows already renewed: The Simpsons, Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, Glee, Raising Hope, Fringe, and Hell's Kitchen. Couple that with guaranteed slots on the fall schedule for X-Factor and Terra Nova and FOX's schedule is filling up fast. Sure to be renewed also are American Idol (for January), House, Bones, Cops, and America's Most Wanted. Kitchen Nightmares and Million Dollar Money Drop are also likely to return in some capacity. On the bubble (but not looking good) is Lie to Me, Human Target, and The Chicago Code. Traffic Light will definitely get cancelled and it's too soon to tell with new sitcom Breaking In.
