The two have been dating for six years and Annie is fed up with Jake not proposing, except that he does try to only to get thwarted multiple times in the pilot. They each have their best friends: Jake has divorced weirdo Gil (John Gemberling) while Annie has proudly single Dennah (Sarah Wright Olsen). Rounding out the main cast is Annie's neighbor, Kay (Tymberlee Hill) and one of her two gay dads, Kevin (Tim Meadows). THE GOOD: There were glimpses here of a potentially funny show. Here are some quick hits! New Shows I Have Given Up On Already: Scorpion, Forever, NCIS: New Orleans, Selfie, Manhattan Love Story, Bad Judge, A to Z, Gracepoint, Mulaney New Shows That Could Join That List: The Mysteries of Laura, Stalker, Cristela New Shows I Am Loving or at Least Enjoying: Red Band Society, Madam Secretary, Gotham, Black-ish, How to Get Away with Murder So Basically... This is the first season where things are playing out pretty much how I expected. The shows I'm enjoying are the ones I was looking forward to. The ones I have given up on were not ones I was excited about. There's no "surprise" series for me that I really enjoy like Chicago Fire or Made in Jersey  in years past. The only semi-surprises are that I've stuck with The Mysteries of Laura so far and gave up on Gracepoint sooner than I thought I would. In an unsurprising move, FOX has picked up Gotham for a full season. The show already had a 16 episode order, and it seemed like they were doing a half-season type approach. But they picked it up for the full 22 episodes. Gotham has delivered decent numbers and for FOX, it has been exceptional as almost everything else has tanked. Week one delivered a 3.2 demo followed by a 2.8 in week two and 2.5 last week. FOX has to hope it stabilizes soon, but every other show except for the Sunday shows is regularly in the 1s, so Gotham is a real shining star. The status of the other FOX freshmen: Red Band Society, Mulaney, Gracepoint, and Utopia is shaky at best with all of them hovering around a 1.0 demo. Mulaney has a 16 episode order, Gracepoint is a limited 10 episode series, and Utopia has already been banished to Fridays. While it doesn't look good for Red Band , I wouldn't count it out yet because it's on FOX. It's been a very tough fall for them.
