TOP 10 TUESDAY: Top 10 TV Weddings

Tuesdays are Top 10 Tuesdays where I count down a topic in the TV realm. This week is Top 10 TV Weddings!

Close Calls
Hank & Sarah - Parenthood
Cam & Mitch - Modern Family
Dwight & Angela - The Office

10. Jeannie & Tony - I Dream of Jeannie
The coupling of Jeannie and Tony may have been a "jump the shark" event for I Dream of Jeannie but their wedding itself is a pretty fun episode. The idea that Jeannie can't be photographed makes for a madcap wedding ceremony and it feels very sweet even if you know it means the show can't go on much longer.

9. Max & 99 - Get Smart
Another madcap wedding, Max and 99 getting married was less of a death sentence on its show. It was very fitting that it was wrapped up in a mission and it leads to a truly hilarious sequence during the actual ceremony.

8. Ben & Leslie - Parks and Recreation
The first of two Parks and Recreation weddings on this list, Ben and Leslie was as much about the two made for each other characters finally getting married as it was about the wedding itself. But the wedding itself was quite sweet too, fittingly in the Parks department.

7. Ted & Georgette - The Mary Tyler Moore Show
This would probably chalk up as one of Mary's more successful gatherings. What was just supposed to be an afternoon luncheon turns into a wedding for Ted and Georgette complete with John Ritter as the minister pulled from his tennis game. It has a bunch of great moments, especially Murray feeding Ted his lines.

6. Monica & Chandler - Friends
Like Ben and Leslie on Parks and Recreation, this wedding was as much about the two characters getting married as it was about the wedding itself. It was a big event with some great moments such as Chandler's shoes not working, Joey barely making it to perform the wedding and, of course, Rachel's pregnancy reveal at the end of the episode.

5. April & Andy - Parks and Recreation
It was just supposed to be a party and everyone, including the audience, was caught off guard that Andy and April's party turned out to be a wedding. With Andy in a Colts jersey and April's friend Orion making the proceedings appropriately weird, it was the perfect wedding for the two characters.

4. Jake & Amy - Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Brooklyn Nine-Nine did a great job with the Jake and Amy relationship as they had much less drama that Ross and Rachel or even Jim and Pam. Their wedding was sweet but also silly with the ceremony happening the same day as the bomb scare. The episode and the wedding itself was perfect for the couple.

3. Phoebe & Mike - Friends
Although other couples on Friends get the most attention, Phoebe and Mike had the best wedding of the series. In the midst of a snowstorm and everything going wrong, it was a simple and very scenic in front of Central Perk. It was one of the most satisfying moments of the final season to see Phoebe get her happy ending.

2. Rhoda & Joe - Rhoda
We all know Rhoda and Joe's marriage ended in divorce but the wedding was still one of TV's most iconic of all time. Rhoda had to navigate her way through New York City and the subway to make it to the wedding in a very memorable sequence. It was one of TV's first big event episodes and paved the way for decades of big event wedding episodes to follow.

1. Jim & Pam - The Office
I remember watching this episode with all of my college friends and it was like we were attending the wedding of two very close friends. We watched their awkward interactions, their courtship and so many key moments leading up to the big event. When Jim and Pam were married at Niagara Falls (along with the very 2009 church service flash mob), it was a joyous occasion.

Tomorrow: A One Season Wonder look at Too Something!
Next Tuesday: Top 10 TV Births!

EPISODE GUIDES: That 70s Show Season Seven

On Thursdays, I go through classic series with a critical look at each season. Today I am looking at Season Seven of  That 70s Show ! THAT 70s SHOW: SEASON SEVEN 2004-2005 25 episodes The seventh season of  That 70s Show  is the final season with Topher Grace as a series regular and also the final full season for Ashton Kutcher. Despite still having both of those cast member, the show finds itself flailing especially with Topher Grace's Eric, who is stuck in a terrible arc for most of the season. The show also brings many characters back at one point or another but everything just feels tired. This season actually graded out the worst for me. Even worse than the often maligned final season (more on that next week). Every title this season is named for a Rolling Stones song. Starring Topher Grace as Eric Forman  (25 episodes) Mila Kunis as Jackie Burkhart  (25 episodes) Ashton Kutcher as Michael Kelso  (25 episodes) Danny Masterson as Steven Hyde  (25 e...

EPISODE GUIDES: Rhoda Season Five

On Thursdays, I go through classic series with a critical look at each season. Today I am looking at Season Five (the final season) of  Rhoda ! RHODA: SEASON FIVE 1978 13 episodes Rhoda' s final season was a truncated one as the show was cancelled in December 1978 after only 13 episodes had been produced (and only nine had aired). This feels like a continuation from season four in many ways except with the ill-advised split between Ida and Martin (more on that below). While  Rhoda  has an occasional good moment and even a couple decent episodes, it is a show that seems so wildly different from season one and not in a good way.  Rhoda  could never figure out what it fully wanted to be and only made it four and a half seasons as a result. Starring Valerie Harper as Rhoda Morgenstern  (13 episodes) Julie Kavner as Brenda Morgenstern  (13 episodes) Ray Buktenica as Benny Goodwin  (11 episodes) Kenneth McMillan as Jack Doyle  (9 episodes) Nancy Wa...

SCHEDULES OF THE PAST: 1995-1996 Thursdays

On Tuesdays, I take a look at schedules from yesteryear. Here's a look at Thursdays in the 1995-96 season! ABC 8:00 8:30 9:00 10:00 Sep Charlie Grace The Monroes Various Programs Oct Murder One Nov Various Programs Dec Various Programs Thursday Night Movie Jan Feb World’s Funniest Videos Before They Were Stars! Mar Apr May NBC was the powerhouse on Thursday nights but ABC still gave it the old college try in the Fall of 1995 with a trio of new dramas that they hoped would help them cut into the Peacock's dominance. Headlining their night was Murder One , a high profile new show from Steven Bochco that received much of the network's attention before the season started. The series focused on one murder case for an entire season, whi...
