TV NEWS & THOUGHTS
- NBC has renewed Law & Order: SVU for a record-breaking 21st season. It will pass Gunsmoke and the original Law & Order to become the longest-running live action scripted show in television history. That's quite an accomplishment for creator Dick Wolf and star Mariska Hargitay among others.

- FOX has renewed 9-1-1 and The Resident for third seasons. 9-1-1 was never in doubt as it remains one of FOX's top dramas but The Resident, while deserving of a renewal, faced an uncertain future in the New FOX era. It has been remarkably consistent and it would have been a shame to see it cancelled.

- CBS announced a few scripted summer premiere dates. The new action drama Blood & Treasure will premiere Tuesday, May 21 at 9pm with two episodes following the season finale of NCIS. It will then air at 10pm Tuesdays. The seventh and final season of Elementary premieres two days later and will air Thursdays at 10pm. The second season of Instinct will premiere on June 11 and air Sundays at 9pm.

- FOX also announced some summer premiere dates. Beat Shazam will premiere Monday, May 20 at 8pm. Masterchef will premiere Wednesday, May 29 at 8pm and move to Thursdays at 8pm in mid-June. So You Think You Can Dance will premiere its 16th (!) season on Monday, June 10 at 8pm. Finally, the new Spin the Wheel hosted by Dax Shepard will premiere on Thursday, June 20 at 9pm.
