Sunday night had the Oscar Awards and the results with host Ellen DeGeneres were close to last year, but stronger in total viewership. The event was up a tenth in the demo from last year but up a more substantial 3.3 million viewers for the most watched Oscars since 2004. Only CBS dared to air anything original against the Oscars as The Amazing Race was down six tenths in viewers and even in the demo from last week, when it was against the Closing Ceremonies of the Olympics. I don't know why CBS didn't just wait until next Sunday to start up Race again.
