Wednesday night was mostly filled with specials and repeats but there was some new programming. On FOX, the final performance night of The X Factor was up seven tenths in viewers and even in the demo. What a disappointing performance for this show was the competition was very weak. Over on NBC, the Miss Universe competition delivered decent ratings and helped Chicago Fire rebound nicely as it was up a big 1.9 million viewers and half a demo point. This show does decently when the competition is limited but it crashed last week against tough competition. Elsewhere, a Katie Couric special was well below last week's Barbara Walters special but it was up slightly year-to-year and a Rascal Flatts special did nothing for CBS.
