However, Canadian sitcom Working the Engels will not join that list as it has been cancelled and will be pulled from the schedule immediately. The show was the weaker of the two late summer sitcom entries and its lead-in Welcome to Sweden will get double pumped for the next couple weeks.

In an unsurprising move, ABC has cancelled Black Box after one season and two weeks after its season finale. The show was originally slated for summer but was pushed into early service and an April premiere after Scandal cut its season short due to Kerry Washington's pregnancy. It premiered to a number that was about half of Scandal 's audience and went down from there.

The NBC summer renewals just keep coming. Despite low ratings, NBC has renewed Welcome to Sweden for a second season. It had already been renewed in Sweden and though it has had low numbers, they have been steady numbers and some critical attention. Welcome to Sweden joins The Night Shift and Undateable as surprise summer renewals from the Peacock network, which is following a solid regular season with stronger than usual summer offerings.

Another little summer show that could has gotten renewed by NBC this summer as Undateable secured a second season. Like The Night Shift , Undateable seemed to be a summer dump by NBC but then it surprised everyone by getting a 1.3 demo for its double episode premiere. That might not sound like much but it had minimal promotion and was dumped on Thursday night in late May. The ratings didn't hold up that well but it did better than current occupants Welcome to Sweden and Working the Engels . It also shows that NBC is committed to multi-camera comedies despite not picking up many at upfronts.
