On Tuesday night, ABC had Christmas specials filling the 8pm hour and they were a big improvement over pretty much anything ABC has aired here recently. The classic A Charlie Brown Christmas continues to impress as it reaches nearly 50 years since its first airing (December 9, 2015 will be the 50th anniversary and I'm sure ABC will do something special). At 9pm, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. benefited from the better lead-in as it was up eight tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo for its best performance since the season premiere. At 10pm, Forever was up eight tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. The demo was the best since October 21. Looks like ABC can not be completely embarrassing when they clean up the 8pm hour. It still hasn't been announced what they will do with the hour at midseason.

Over on NBC, The Voice was up 1.8 million viewers and three tenths in the demo. It has done much better this week without competition from Dancing with the Stars. At 9pm, Marry Me was up 1.2 million viewers and two tenths in the demo. It still is only at 50% retention from The Voice, which doesn't cut it. About a Boy was up 1.2 million viewers and a tenth in the demo. At 10pm, Chicago Fire was up 1.4 million viewers and a tenth in the demo. This show is a self-starter but the 1.1 demo lead-in is certainly not helping. I think NBC needs to abandon the comedy hour and get a compatible drama at 9pm. Finally on FOX, Masterchef Junior was up seven tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo at 8pm. At 9pm, New Girl and The Mindy Project were both up two tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo.

WINNER OF THE NIGHT: The Voice (NBC)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: About a Boy (NBC)
