On the final night of Week 2, ABC had its full schedule in effect. The season premiere of America's Funniest Home Videos did about as expected at 7pm. It's total viewership numbers make it reliable enough in the hour. At 8pm, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was down 1.6 million viewers and two tenths in the demo from its 8pm airing last week. It will move to Fridays in a few weeks. At 9pm, Desperate Housewives was down seven tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo from last week's season premiere. The week-to-week drop isn't too bad but this show has fallen so far from past years. Even last year, it was much much stronger at this point. At 10pm, week 2 of the new Pan Am slipped a rough 3.3 million viewers and half a demo point for one of the worst Week 2 drops of any new show. Maybe it can stabilize but this was an alarming second week drop for the period drama.

CBS was delayed in part of the country 23 minutes thanks to NFL overrun but as usual that helped 60 Minutes in a big way as it was up a huge 4.8 million viewers and 1.2 demo points. The halo effect extended to The Amazing Race which was up seven tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. The Good Wife followed and was up four tenths in viewers and even in the demo. This show just is never going to skew young as its getting basically the same exact ratings as it did on Tuesday. At 10pm, CSI: Miami was up four tenths in viewer and a tenth in the demo which is a positive sign. NBC's Jets-Ravens game was actually down from last week's Colts-Steelers game despite being a much better matchup. It still dominated the evening though.

Without an NFL lead-in, FOX's animation lineup slipped across the board. At 8pm, The Simpsons was down 1.9 million viewers and a rough nine tenths in the demo to a 3.0. This is coming amid reports that The Simpsons' voice actors are in dispute with FOX who feels the show cannot continue to cost what it is. Are we nearing the end of this VERY long running show? At 8:30pm, The Cleveland Show was down half a million viewers and half a demo point. Family Guy followed and was down seven tenths in viewers and six tenths in the demo. The demo was particularly hurt on Sunday night as a 3.5 seems very low for Family Guy. At 9:30pm, American Dad! was actually even in viewers but down three tenths in the demo, posting the best week-to-week performance.

EPISODE GUIDES: Rhoda Season Five

On Thursdays, I go through classic series with a critical look at each season. Today I am looking at Season Five (the final season) of  Rhoda ! RHODA: SEASON FIVE 1978 13 episodes Rhoda' s final season was a truncated one as the show was cancelled in December 1978 after only 13 episodes had been produced (and only nine had aired). This feels like a continuation from season four in many ways except with the ill-advised split between Ida and Martin (more on that below). While  Rhoda  has an occasional good moment and even a couple decent episodes, it is a show that seems so wildly different from season one and not in a good way.  Rhoda  could never figure out what it fully wanted to be and only made it four and a half seasons as a result.
