On Wednesday night, only the FOX lineup was completely new with its regular lineup. Shots Fired was down a tenth in viewers and the demo at 8pm but Empire managed to stop the recent bleeding and was up two tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo at 9pm. On CBS, Survivor was down a tenth in viewers and even in the demo. Two episodes of Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders followed. The 9pm episode was up slightly from regular Borders episodes but down from usual episodes of the mothership. The 10pm episode was up a tenth in viewers and the demo from last week. Finally on ABC, only Designated Survivor was new and it felt the effects of following repeats as it dropped four tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo to a new series low at 0.9. It has been doing well in DVR and came back from its hiatus better than expected, but it has had a tall order. With the drops for Survivor and Shots Fired, the only new dramas this year that have not gone below a 1.0 demo are This is Us, Lethal Weapon, Star, and Bull.

WINNER OF THE NIGHT: Empire (FOX)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: Designated Survivor (ABC)
