THE RUNDOWN: Sunday, January 1

Happy 2017! Check below this post for my annual Top 20 episodes of 2016!

The New Year kicks off with two series premieres after double headers of football on the final Sunday of the regular season. CBS has Ransom, a new co-produced drama that will air in its regular slot of Saturday at 8pm starting next week. It's not a high priority for CBS and I don't see it getting a great sampling. A better sampling might happen on FOX where they have heavily promoted The Mick, which will air regularly on Tuesdays. FOX also has a more intriguing late game with the Redskins-Giants showing in most of the country. The Mick is followed by the one hour winter finale of Brooklyn Nine-Nine on a special night. It will return later in the spring. Elsewhere, NBC has the final regular season NFL game: a Packers-Lions showdown that will decide the division. ABC has a Bachelor special before tomorrow's premiere followed by the season premiere of Sunday filler To Tell the Truth and a new night for burn-offs of Conviction.
