On Thursday night, the NFL Draft had no impact compared to the last several years. It used to just slam The Big Bang Theory, but this year the CBS sitcom was down a tenth in viewers and up two tenths in the demo. Later in the night for CBS, The Odd Couple was down four tenths in viewers and even in the demo, Mom was even in viewers and down a tenth in the demo, and 2 Broke Girls was down three tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. To cap off the night, Rush Hour was down four tenths in viewers and even in the demo. On FOX, Bones was even in viewers and down a tenth in the demo to a new series low. FOX has to put this on Friday for its final season, right? At 9pm, American Grit was down a tenth in viewers and even in the demo.

On ABC, Grey's Anatomy was up two tenths in viewers and even in the demo. It adjusted up in the finals to avoid going down into the 1s for the first time this season. At 9pm, Scandal was up three tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. At 10pm, The Catch was even in viewers and up a tenth in the demo. Finally on NBC, Strong was down three tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. At 9pm, The Blacklist was down three tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. It tied a series low that it first set last year against the Draft. All things considered with the way this season has gone, being even with the draft episode last year is not bad. At 10pm, Game of Silence was down three tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo.

8:00 Rosewood

Viewers: 4.9 million, 18-49 demo: 1.3
9:00 Empire
Viewers: 10.0 million, 18-49 demo: 3.8

On Wednesday night, it was FOX on top as usual but they were also the only network that was fully new. At 8pm, Rosewood was up three tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. At 9pm, Empire was up four tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. It hasn't risen much this season so this was a strong night. On ABC, The Middle was down three tenths in viewers and even in the demo to start off the night. A special of The Goldbergs did pretty well and was not too far off from original episodes. After a Modern Family repeat at 9pm, Black-ish was down seven tenths in viewers to a series low but even in the demo. At 10pm, Nashville was up a tenth in viewers and even in the demo. On CBS, Survivor was up two tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. Following a repeat of Criminal Minds, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders did not drop much from when it followed an original last week as it was down a million viewers but just a tenth in the demo. I still think this show has done enough to get a second season. Finally on NBC, Heartbeat was up half a million viewers and a tenth in the demo.

WINNER OF THE NIGHT: Empire (FOX)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: Nashville (ABC)

THE RUNDOWN: Thursday, April 28

Thursday is fully new across the board as May Sweeps begins. The networks also have to compete with the NFL Draft though, which has been problematic for shows like The Big Bang Theory in the past. I wouldn't be surprised to see drops across the board. We may see Grey's Anatomy fall into the 1s for the first time this season.

ABC
8:00 Grey's Anatomy #266 "You're Gonna Need Someone on Your Side"
9:00 Scandal #88 "Buckle Up"
10:00 The Catch #6 "The Benefactor"
Prediction: Greys - 7.1 million, 1.9/Scandal - 5.9 million, 1.5/Catch - 4.0 million, 0.8

CBS
8:00 The Big Bang Theory #205 "The Fermentation Bifurcation"
8:30 The Odd Couple #16 "Madison & Son"
9:00 Mom #63 "A Catheter and a Dipsy-Doodle"
9:30 2 Broke Girls #114 "And the Partnership Hits the Fan"
10:00 Rush Hour #5 "Assault on Precinct 7"
Prediction: Big Bang - 12.6 million, 2.8/Odd - 7.1 million, 1.4/Mom - 7.7 million, 1.6/Broke - 6.6 million, 1.5/Rush - 4.0 million, 0.8

NBC
8:00 Strong
9:00 The Blacklist #64 "The Artax Network"
10:00 Game of Silence #4 "The Uninvited"
Prediction: Strong - 2.5 million, 0.6/Blacklist - 5.9 million, 1.1/Game - 2.8 million, 0.6

FOX
8:00 Bones #225 "The Monster in the Closet"
9:00 American Grit
Prediction: Bones - 4.0 million, 0.8/Grit - 2.0 million, 0.6

PILOT PICKUPS: 24: Legacy, Star

The pilot pickups are coming a little early this year with FOX already picking up two shows to series, 24: Legacy and Star. Both were near sure things through the development process. They join the already picked up Son of Zorn, Shots Fired, and the Prison Break reboot.

24: Legacy is the newest entry in the 24 franchise but it will not be with former star Kiefer Sutherland. Instead, it is more of a "sequel" than a continuation like 24: Live Another Day was. This incarnation stars Corey Hawkins, Miranda Otto, and Jimmy Smits. It will run in real time as the 24 shows did but it will only air 12 episodes a year so there will be time jumps between episodes.

Star comes from Empire creator Lee Daniels and is another music drama. Starring Queen Latifah, Benjamin Bratt, and Nicholas Gonzalez, as well as newcomers Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, and Brittany O'Grady playing singers trying to make it in a cutthroat music business in Atlanta. It seems destined to be paired with Empire at some point next season.

RATINGS RECAP: 4/26/16

NBC
8:00 The Voice
Viewers: 10.1 million, 18-49 demo: 2.0
9:00 Chicago Med
Viewers: 9.0 million, 18-49 demo: 1.8
10:00 Chicago Fire
Viewers: 8.2 million, 18-49 demo: 1.7

FOX
8:00 New Girl

Viewers: 2.4 million, 18-49 demo: 1.0
8:30 Grandfathered
Viewers: 1.8 million, 18-49 demo: 0.6
9:00 New Girl
Viewers: 1.9 million, 18-49 demo: 0.8
9:30 New Girl (Repeat)
Viewers: 1.7 million, 18-49 demo: 0.6

As expected, it was NBC leading Tuesday night. At 8pm, The Voice was up three tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo from last week's troubling drop. At 9pm, Chicago Med had a great night, rising eight tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. The viewer total was the best since December. Chicago Fire finished the night off even with last week. On ABC, Fresh Off the Boat returned after two weeks off to a solid result. It was up half a million viewers and two tenths in the demo for its best performance since March 8. At 8:30pm, The Real O'Neals was also up half a million viewers and two tenths from last week, when it followed a repeat. At 9pm, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was up three tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. At 10pm, Beyond the Tank was even.

Over on CBS, the season finale of Limitless followed repeats but was even with last week. I'm not sure it deserves to, but I definitely see this show coming back for a second season. Finally on FOX, there were three episodes of New Girl airing with new ones at 8pm and 9pm. The 8pm episode was up half a million viewers and two tenths in the demo from last week but the 9pm episode tied the series low set last week and there was no interest in the Prince cameo repeat that aired at 9:30pm. The only non-New Girl show was Grandfathered, which was new for the first time since March 8 and it ended up crashing to a series low by two tenths in the demo. I keep hearing that either Grandfathered or The Grinder will get renewed, but does either one deserve to? I don't think so.

WINNER OF THE NIGHT: Chicago Med (NBC)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: Grandfathered (FOX)

THE RUNDOWN: Wednesday, April 27

Wednesday night has a mix of originals and repeats. ABC has new episodes of The Middle, Black-ish, and Nashville coupled with a special for The Goldbergs. CBS has a repeat of Criminal Minds in the middle of its night so we'll get another test for Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. Only Heartbeat is new again for NBC so FOX should easily dominate with little competition and Empire.

ABC
8:00 The Middle #165 "The Lanai"
8:30 The Goldbergs: An 80s Rewind (SPECIAL)
9:00 Modern Family (REPEAT)
9:30 Black-ish #45 "The Johnson Show"
10:00 Nashville #82 "Baby Come Home"
Prediction: Middle - 6.8 million, 1.6/Black-ish - 5.2 million, 1.4/Nashville - 3.9 million, 0.9

CBS
8:00 Survivor
9:00 Criminal Minds (REPEAT)
10:00 Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders #8 "De Los Inocentes"
Prediction: Survivor - 9.0 million, 2.0/Borders - 7.1 million, 1.2

NBC
8:00 Heartbeat #6 "The Inverse"
9:00 Law & Order: SVU (REPEAT)
10:00 Chicago PD (REPEAT)
Prediction: Heartbeat - 3.9 million, 0.7

FOX
8:00 Rosewood #18 "Thorax, Thrombosis, & Threesomes"
9:00 Empire #27 "More Than Kin"
Prediction: Rosewood - 4.4 million, 1.2/Empire - 9.3 million, 3.6

8:00 Dancing with the Stars

10:00 Castle
Viewers: 6.2 million, 18-49 demo: 1.1

8:30 The Big Bang Theory (Repeat)

10:00 Blindspot
Viewers: 5.6 million, 18-49 demo: 1.4

FOX
8:00 Gotham (Repeat)
Viewers: 2.0 million, 18-49 demo: 0.6
9:00 Lucifer
Viewers: 3.9 million, 18-49 demo: 1.3

On Monday night, CBS had the return of Mike & Molly for its final batch of episodes. Airing at 8pm, it had a new series low in the demo but it was just slightly below recent Supergirl episodes and solid in total viewers. At 9pm, the season finale of Scorpion was up six tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. It's safe to say this show had somewhat of a sophomore slump in the ratings but it did stabilize through the second half of the season. At 10pm, NCIS: Los Angeles was up a tenth in viewers and even in the demo. On NBC, The Voice was down six tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo as it continued its spring swoon. Despite the lead-in being down, Blindspot was up a tenth in viewers and the demo.

On FOX, a repeat of Gotham didn't make any difference to Lucifer as the freshman drama ended its season on a positive note, rising three tenths in viewers and staying even in the demo. This has been a very pleasant surprise for FOX. Now the question is will it air in the fall or return in January again? Finally on ABC, Dancing with the Stars rebounded some from last week's drop as it rose eight tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. At 10pm, Castle was up three tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo, returning to the 1.1 demo it was getting for many weeks before last week.

WINNER OF THE NIGHT: Lucifer (FOX)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: The Voice (NBC)

On Sunday night, NBC had a repeat of Little Big Shots and that led to a big drop for The Carmichael Show. Without its big lead-in, Carmichael plunged 1.8 million viewers and four tenths in the demo. I know NBC loves this show but it has not proven itself worthy of a third season and this is the most glaring example of why. At 9:30pm, Crowded was down a million viewers and two tenths in the demo from last week's 9:30 episode. The only positive news is it held on 100% to its lead-in. At 10pm, Dateline NBC was down 1.6 million viewers and three tenths in the demo. On ABC, America's Funniest Home Videos was up two tenths in viewers and three tenths in the demo. At a 1.2 demo, it tied for the best demo of the night. For a 7pm show that has been on over 25 years! At 8pm, Once Upon a Time was up a tenth in viewers and even in the demo. At 9pm, The Family was down a tenth in viewers and even in the demo. Quantico closed out the night down two tenths in viewers and even in the demo.

It was a very steady night for CBS through the first three hours. At 7pm, 60 Minutes was down four tenths in viewers and even in the demo while Madam Secretary was even in viewers and up a tenth in the demo. These shows skew so old but very shows get this many total viewers on a regular basis. At 9pm, The Good Wife was down a tenth in viewers and even in the demo. At 10pm, Elementary was down three tenths in viewers and even in the demo. Finally on FOX, Bordertown was even in viewers and down a tenth in the demo. At 8pm, The Simpsons was up two tenths in viewers and even in the demo while Bob's Burgers was up two tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. After another Family Guy repeat, The Last Man on Earth was down four tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo to tie a series low.

WINNER OF THE NIGHT: America's Funniest Home Videos (ABC)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: The Carmichael Show (NBC)

THE RUNDOWN: Tuesday, April 26

Tuesday night has CBS in repeats except for the season finale of Limitless and I wouldn't be surprised to see it hit a series low. ABC is fully new again but won't have much to brag about except possibly Fresh Off the Boat. FOX is double pumping New Girl episodes for the rest of the season and is airing the Prince episode from 2014 at 9:30pm. That leaves NBC, which will surely be on top with The Voice and the Chicago twins, who both had good weeks last week.

ABC
8:00 Fresh Off the Boat #33 "Hi, My Name Is..."
8:30 The Real O'Neals #9 "The Real Wedding"
9:00 Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. #62 "The Singularity"
10:00 Beyond the Tank
Prediction: Boat - 4.0 million, 1.0/O'Neals - 3.5 million, 0.9/Marvel - 3.0 million, 0.9/Tank - 2.2 million, 0.5

CBS
8:00 NCIS (REPEAT)
9:00 NCIS: New Orleans (REPEAT)
10:00 Limitless #22 "Finale: Part Two!!" (Season Finale)
Prediction: Limitless - 5.1 million, 1.0

NBC

THE RUNDOWN: Monday, April 25

Monday night has the return of Mike & Molly for the start of its final batch of episodes before the series finale on May 16. Elsewhere, there are season finales for Scorpion and Lucifer. Lucifer doesn't get a new Gotham lead-in but I'm not sure that will matter too much. Dancing with the Stars took a big drop last week while The Voice has been on a steady slide so we'll see if either of those reality giants can rebound this week.

ABC

On Friday night, ABC aired the season finales of their Friday comedies. Last Man Standing was down four tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo while Dr. Ken was down a tenth in viewers and the demo. Both shows tied series lows in the demo but they have done enough this season to get renewed. The only reason they wouldn't is if ABC can't strike a deal with Tim Allen/the studio of Last Man Standing to continue and that would have a domino effect on Dr. Ken. At 9pm, Shark Tank was down two tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. At 10pm, 20/20 jumped six tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo thanks to its coverage of Prince's death. On CBS, The Amazing Race was down a tenth in viewers and even in the demo while Hawaii Five-0 was down three tenths in viewers and even in the demo. On NBC, Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon and Grimm were up a tenth in viewers and the demo while Dateline NBC was down half a million viewers and a tenth in the demo. Finally on FOX, Hell's Kitchen was even with last week.

WINNER OF THE NIGHT: 20/20 (ABC)

THE RUNDOWN: Sunday, April 24

Sunday night has mostly new episodes except for Family Guy again and Sunday's biggest hit, Little Big Shots, which may not be as impacted as some shows by being a repeat instead of an original. On Thursday night, CBS had a new episode of The Big Bang Theory that propelled the entire lineup to rise. Big Bang itself was up seven tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo from the season low two weeks ago. At 8:30pm, The Odd Couple was up 1.5 million viewers and two tenths in the demo for a season high. This show seems to be improving its renewal chances each week it's on but we'll see what happens when it's also airing on Mondays. At 9pm, Mom had a great night as it was up eight tenths in viewers and three tenths in the demo. The viewer total is the best since February. At 9:30pm, 2 Broke Girls was up six tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. Rush Hour won the very weak 10pm battle by rising four tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. On FOX, Bones was even while week two of American Grit was down two tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo.

On ABC, Grey's Anatomy was down three tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. It was a season low but it's still proving indestructible. At 9pm, Scandal was up a tenth in viewers but down two tenths in the demo to a new series low. At 10pm, The Catch was down two tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo for a series low. How is ABC going to re-energize this brand next fall? Finally on NBC, it was another weak night for its new Thursday lineup. At 8pm, Strong was down three tenths in viewers and even in the demo. The Blacklist remained a rose among the thorns. It was up three tenths in viewers but down a tenth in the demo. At 10pm, Game of Silence was down half a million viewers and a tenth in the demo.

WINNER OF THE NIGHT: Mom (CBS)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: Scandal (ABC)

FRIDAY
Friday night has the season finales of the ABC comedies. They should come back next season but there are outside factors at work because they come from an outside studio. They still seem likely to return but it may go down to the wire. Elsewhere, things are mostly new so I'd expect similar results to last week.

This was its lowest performance not counting Thanksgiving Eve, but it's so far above every other show. On CBS, Survivor was up nine tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo against limited competition. Criminal Minds was up three tenths in viewers and even in the demo. At 10pm, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders was down three tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo despite no competition in the 10pm hour. After overperforming last week, this was a disappointing showing. On ABC, Nashville followed comedy repeats and was down four tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. It was a series low in total viewers and tied a low in the demo. Finally on NBC, Heartbeat was up a tenth in viewers and even in the demo.

WINNER OF THE NIGHT: Survivor (CBS)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders (CBS)

THE RUNDOWN: Thursday, April 21

Thursday night has all new episodes across the board. With The Big Bang Theory new again, it could bolster the rest of the CBS lineup which would help bubble show The Odd Couple's chances. It could be pretty ugly for the second week of NBC's and FOX's new Thursday lineups.

On Tuesday night, NCIS went below a 2.0 demo for the first time ever, but just barely. It fell nine tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. So after staying at 2.0 or above since its debut in 2003, it has finally dipped into the 1s. Still, this is an incredibly powerful show in its 13th season. At 9pm, NCIS: New Orleans was down 1.2 million viewers and two tenths in the demo. At 10pm, Limitless was down half a million viewers and even in the demo. On NBC, The Voice had a very weak night as it fell a million viewers and half a demo point for its worst performance ever in a regular timeslot. This show is fading hard down the stretch this spring. But it didn't hurt the Chicago twins. Chicago Med was up a million viewers and a tenth in the demo while Chicago Fire had an even better night as it rose half a million viewers and two tenths in the demo. That's right, it was just a tenth behind The Voice in the demo!

On ABC, The Real O'Neals went below 1.0 for the first time as all of ABC's new shows have that dubious distinction. It was down seven tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. The Real O'Neals has been having some positive weeks but this certainly won't help its chances. At 9pm, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was down a tenth in viewers and the demo. Beyond the Tank was down a tenth in viewers and even in the demo at 10pm. Finally on FOX, New Girl aired for an hour and was down eight tenths in viewers and three tenths in the demo to a series low. Having both The Voice and NCIS back in the hour surely didn't help. At 9pm, the season finale of Brooklyn Nine-Nine actually built on the New Girl lead-in. It was down a tenth in viewers but up a tenth in the demo. At 9:30pm, The Grinder was down a tenth in viewers and even in the demo.

WINNER OF THE NIGHT: Chicago Fire (NBC)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: The Voice (NBC)

THE RUNDOWN: Wednesday, April 20

Wednesday night has mostly repeats on ABC and NBC while CBS and FOX are fully new. Empire tied its series low last week and go easily go lower than that but the competition is pretty light so it also could hold steady or rise. I think CBS should have a pretty decent night with both comedies and the NBC crime dramas in repeats.

ABC

8:30 The Goldbergs (REPEAT)
9:00 Modern Family (REPEAT)
9:30 Black-ish (REPEAT)

9:00 Lucifer
Viewers: 3.8 million, 18-49 demo: 1.3

It was a rough Monday all around with nearly every show down. On ABC, Dancing with the Stars came crashing back down from Disney week as it fell 1.5 million viewers and four tenths in the demo. At 10pm, Castle was down half a million viewers and a tenth in the demo as news of major cast shakeups for a possible ninth season came out yesterday. On CBS, the season finale of Supergirl was even with last week. Though it hasn't been officially renewed, I think it will definitely come back but perhaps not in the same timeslot. At 9pm, Scorpion was down two tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. At 10pm, NCIS: Los Angeles was down four tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo.

On NBC, The Voice continued to inch down, dropping three tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. At 10pm, Blindspot was even in viewers and back down a tenth in the demo. This should not get to keep the Monday 10pm slot next season. Finally on FOX, Gotham was even with last week while the only bright spot of the whole night belonged to Lucifer, which rose four tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. This is the first time it built on Gotham in the demo. It definitely earned its recent renewal with this performance.

WINNER OF THE NIGHT: Lucifer (FOX)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: Dancing with the Stars (ABC)

On Sunday night, FOX was new except for The Simpsons. Both Bordertown and the final scheduled airing of Cooper Barrett's Guide to Surviving Life were ridiculously low. At 8:30pm, Bob's Burgers was down two tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. At 9pm, Family Guy was new for the first time since March 13 and it was down a tenth in viewers and even in the demo. With a 1.4 demo, it was the top scripted option of the night. At 9:30pm, The Last Man on Earth was down two tenths in viewers and even in the demo. On NBC, Little Big Shots was back down 1.6 million viewers and three tenths in the demo from last week's spike for a new series low. This is still a success story but not the huge smash it was out of the gate. Two episodes of Crowded aired in the 9pm hour. The 9pm episode was on par with last week's episode of The Carmichael Show while the 9:30pm episode was down two tenths in viewers and even in the demo from last week's Crowded. At 10pm, Dateline NBC remained a decent performer, rising 1.1 million viewers and a tenth in the demo.

It was a rough night for CBS. At 7pm, 60 Minutes was down big from last week's Masters-fueled edition. At 8pm, Madam Secretary was down three tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo for a series low. It was the first time it went below a 1.0 in the demo. At 9pm, The Good Wife was up 1.1 million viewers and a tenth in the demo from its last airing three weeks ago. At 10pm, Elementary was down half a million viewers and two tenths in the demo from last week's regular timeslot episode. It was a new series low for Elementary and this seems just as weak, if not weaker, than CSI: Cyber. Finally on ABC, Once Upon a Time was even with last week. At a mere 1.2 demo, it was the second highest scripted show of the night. At 9pm, The Family was down two tenths in viewers and even in the demo. Quantico closed out the night up a tenth in viewers and down a tenth in the demo.

THE RUNDOWN: Monday, April 18

Monday night has regular lineups across the board including the season finale for Supergirl on CBS. It hasn't been renewed yet but it most certainly will be. It could get a small rise for its finale. Everything else will probably be close to last week but Dancing with the Stars could give back a little bit of last week's rise, which may or may not help The Voice.

On Thursday night, FOX had a new lineup with American Idol now over. Bones returned after being off since December 10 and it only managed to tie that day's ratings. It is so far past its prime so an announced final season for next year was a smart idea. It was still better than American Grit, which was ignored for its series premiere with 2.4 million viewers and a 0.8 demo. This looks to be a show that will be quickly forgotten but will probably air out the string. On CBS, a repeat of The Big Bang Theory led off the night. Despite a much lower lead-in, The Odd Couple was down just half a million viewers and even in the demo. After a very disappointing start to its season last week, this was a much more promising result. At 9pm, Mom was up three tenths in viewers and even in the demo while 2 Broke Girls was up four tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. Rush Hour closed out the night down half a million viewers and even in the demo.

NBC debuted its third new Thursday lineup this season and the results were pretty awful. Once again, it was The Blacklist as a bright spot, rising three tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. This show continues to impress when it has had no help in over a year since it moved to Thursday. At 8pm, the time period of Strong dropped two tenths in the demo from its weak Wednesday debut. And it was even worse for Game of Silence, which didn't carry anything over from its Voice preview, plunging six tenths in the demo from Tuesday's premiere. Both bookends to The Blacklist had pitiful 0.8 demos and will surely be one and done options here. So far, only Shades of Blue has shown any hope of being a Blacklist companion. Finally on ABC, a two hour Grey's Anatomy was up six tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. It provided a stronger lead-in for The Catch but the new TGIT show was down a tenth in viewers and the demo. It did manage to win the 10pm hour, albeit with a very weak 1.0 demo.

On Wednesday night, NBC had a series premiere with Strong but it was ignored with a mere 3.3 million viewers and 1.0 demo. This doesn't bode well for its Thursday 8pm chances. Earlier in the night, The Voice aired a special Wednesday episode. Though it aired at a special time, it was still a new series low for a non-clip show episode. On CBS, Survivor was down six tenths in viewers and even in the demo. At 9pm, Criminal Minds was down four tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo as it's once again losing steam now that it's facing Empire again. Who would have guessed such a strong crossover audience between those two shows? Still, the return of Criminal Minds helped the spinoff, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, rise to its best numbers since week two. It was up nine tenths in viewers and three tenths in the demo from last week's 10pm episode. This was the kind of performance it needed and probably helps cement an already likely renewal.

On ABC, The Middle was dead even with last week while The Goldbergs was in the only show in the block to go up, rising a tenth in viewers and the demo. At 9pm, Modern Family saw a new series low in the demo. It fell a tenth in viewers and the demo. The Goldbergs was not that far off from a show that it used to come nowhere near. At 9:30pm, Black-ish also saw a new series low, rising two tenths in viewers but falling a tenth in the demo. At 10pm, Nashville was up a tenth in viewers and even in the demo. Finally on FOX, Rosewood was down seven tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. At 9pm, Empire was down 1.2 million viewers and half a demo point from last week's American Idol infused episode. The only episodes of Empire that did worse or the same were the series premiere and the Thanksgiving Eve episode.

WINNER OF THE NIGHT: The Goldbergs (ABC)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: Strong (NBC)

THE RUNDOWN: Thursday, April 14

Thursday night has a series premiere with FOX's American Grit, a military-based reality series. It seems like it might be targeting the same type of audience as Strong, which airs an hour earlier on NBC. Earlier in the night for FOX is the return of Bones to the lineup after several months off. I don't expect too much from this pair. NBC is premiering its latest Thursday night incarnation the time period premieres of Strong and Game of Silence sandwiching The Blacklist. Elsewhere, ABC has two hours of Grey's Anatomy and no Scandal while CBS is new except for The Big Bang Theory, and that could drag the lineup further down. Interestingly, all three 10pm dramas are in their first couple episodes.

ABC
8:00 Grey's Anatomy #263/264 "There's a Fine, Fine Line/It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)"

On Tuesday night, NBC had another post-Voice premiere. First up, The Voice was down three tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo from its last regular Tuesday episode. It led into a 1.4 demo premiere for Game of Silence. This is on par with what Blindspot did on Monday night. It showed at least a little bit of hope but the competition was very light so I'm not confident it'll be able to do much of anything in its regular Thursday slot. On ABC, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was up two tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo while Beyond the Tank was also up two tenths in viewers but even in the demo. Finally on FOX, New Girl was up half a million viewers and a tenth in the demo for its best performance in over a month. Brooklyn Nine-Nine was down six tenths in viewers and even in the demo from last week's 9:30pm episode. The Grinder was up a tenth in viewers and even in the demo.

With Dancing's rise came another drop for The Voice on NBC, which was even in viewers but down two tenths in the demo. At 10pm, Blindspot was even in viewers and up a tenth in the demo. On CBS, Supergirl gave back all of its spike for its crossover week. It was down 1.1 million viewers and four tenths in the demo. At 9pm, Scorpion was down a tenth in viewers and even in the demo. NCIS: Los Angeles was down seven tenths in viewers and up a tenth in the demo. Finally on FOX, Gotham was down a tenth in viewers and the demo while Lucifer was down four tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. It was a new series low for both shows.

Wednesday night has a series premiere with NBC's Strong, a reality strength training show with Sylvester Stallone as executive producer. It airs following a special one hour episode of The Voice so NBC is sampling after The Voice for the umpteenth time this season. It has gotten a lot of promotion but I'm not thinking it's going to do very well. Elsewhere, everything else has a regular lineup. Will Empire drop again or will it stay up in the 4s?

RENEWAL ALERT: New Girl

It came a little later than some other FOX shows, but New Girl has been renewed for a sixth season. The show was held to midseason this year and some thought it might be nearing the end. But it has done better this year than last year both creatively and in the ratings. Despite anemic Tuesday ratings, New Girl has consistently been the best of the block. This leaves just Grandfathered, The Grinder, and Sleepy Hollow as bubble scripted shows for FOX.
