On Wednesday night, ABC tried two episodes of The Goldbergs, but first The Middle was up two tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo. In its regular slot, The Goldbergs was up four tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo, tying the night's highest demo. The 9:30pm episode, which followed a repeat of Modern Family, didn't fare as well but it built on its lead-in, just as the 8:30 episode did. At 10pm, Nashville was even in viewers and up a tenth in the demo. On CBS, Survivor came back from last week's odd bounce. It was down four tenths in viewers and three tenths in the demo. Criminal Minds was dead even with last week while CSI: Cyber was down two tenths in viewers and even in the demo. The crime dramas couldn't take advantage of NBC being in repeats. The worst news came at FOX where American Idol was up a million viewers but even with a weak 1.4 demo even with no competition from The Voice. Just for comparison, American Idol was lower than shows like Undateable, Fresh Off the Boat, and CSI: Cyber this week.

WINNER OF THE NIGHT: The Goldbergs (ABC)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: American Idol (FOX)
