THE RUNDOWN: Sunday, January 4

After the holidays, Sunday is the first day that's back to normal with the broadcast networks and there's a lot going on. ABC has the series premiere of musical fairy tale Galavant, which will run back-to-back episodes for four weeks in place of Once Upon a Time. The show has gotten a ton of promotion but it is going against tough competition so I think it'll have a soft premiere. It will probably get even worse for ABC later in the night with Resurrection and Revenge.

NBC has the return of Celebrity Apprentice after more than a year away. It used to be a huge draw but I think that ship has sailed and it won't do all that well. It'll probably be the two networks with no premieres that are the strongest. FOX has a direct NFL lead-in with a huge Wildcard game featuring the national draw Dallas Cowboys, so the numbers for The Simpsons should be huge and that should have a trickle down effect the rest of the night. Despite no direct NFL lead-in, CBS will be able to promote its lineup earlier in the day during the Bengals-Colts game, so they should do pretty well in total viewers (as usual) with their drama lineup.
