Thursday night had the second night of American Idol's premiere. It was even in viewers and down just a tenth in the demo from Wednesday's one hour episode. It's year to year comparison was better than Wednesday night and it grew as the night went on. Not great, but not horrible. CBS was up as expected, but they didn't get as big a bounce as they usually do on their first Thursday in the New Year, but that may have been partially due to American Idol. The Big Bang Theory was up 2.6 million viewers and seven tenths in the demo. It is a Thursday high for this season but they usually see huge bounces here. It's gone above a 6 in past years in these early January weeks. At 8:30pm, Mom was up 2.3 million viewers and four tenths in the demo for a series high. This has been a huge success this season, I wonder if CBS is going to regret moving it to 9:30pm in February. At 9pm, Two and a Half Men was up 1.3 million viewers and four tenths in the demo. The McCarthys was up 1.1 million viewers and a tenth in the demo for its best performance since the series premiere. I think CBS should have let this run a full season, it has been doing better lately. Elementary closed things out up a million viewers and two tenths in the demo for a season high.

Over on NBC, The Biggest Loser was up 1.5 million viewers and four tenths in the demo from last week's series low. Bad Judge and A to Z recovered a bit from their pitiful numbers a week ago on New Year's Day, but they still didn't do all that much. Bad Judge was up 1.1 million viewers and three tenths in the demo while A to Z was up eight tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo. Parenthood closed out the night with its 100th episode. It was up six tenths in viewers and a tenth in the demo, tying a season high in the demo and hitting an outright one in viewers. It looks like Parenthood might be able to have a nice little closing run as it heads towards its series finale on January 29. Finally on ABC, The Taste was up four tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo from last week's series low.

WINNER OF THE NIGHT: Mom (CBS)
LOSER OF THE NIGHT: A to Z (NBC)
