In news that came as no surprise, FOX has confirmed that
Gracepoint has been cancelled after one season. The show was always designed as a limited series, but I'm sure FOX would have found a way to extend it if it had been successful (like CBS did with
Under the Dome). However, it premiered to a weak 4.7 million viewers and 1.1 demo and dropped from there so that did not become a concern. It rallied a bit at the end but got as low as 3.0 million viewers and a 0.7 demo.
Gracepoint joins
Utopia on the official cancellation pile for FOX. Fellow newbies
Mulaney and
Red Band Society will surely join them, but it has not been made official. New Rainn Wilson drama
Backstrom will take
Gracepoint's Thursday 9pm slot in January.
