We may be in the third week of the new season but CBS still has summer on the mind as they renewed summer dramas Under the Dome and Extant. Despite a major drop in year-to-year ratings, the Under the Dome renewal was no surprise. It still pulls pretty solid numbers for a scripted summer drama. The Extant renewal was quite a surprise to me though. The Halle Berry drama was a huge disappointment, regularly hovering around a 0.9 demo. They have a lucrative deal with Amazon for these shows, so other things may be at play here. Along with this news, CBS also cancelled low-rated summer drama Reckless. Dome and Extant will join a straight to series order, Zoo, on the CBS original drama list for next summer.

RENEWAL ALERT: Under the Dome, Extant
