Everything was new on Wednesday night and the best news (but not the best ratings) came from NBC. Revolution started things out down a tenth in viewers and even in the demo. At 9pm, Law & Order: SVU was down 1.2 million viewers and three tenths in the demo from its last airing, which was a big episode. At 10pm, Chicago PD in part two of a crossover with Chicago Fire, was up eight tenths in viewers and three tenths in the demo for its best showing since February 26. This show does very well when it crosses over with other Dick Wolf dramas. On CBS, Survivor started things out up three tenths in viewers and even in the demo which is pretty good on a night where most shows were down. At 9pm, Criminal Minds was up four tenths in viewers but down a tenth in the demo. At 10pm, the backdoor CSI: Cyber episode of CSI was up nine tenths in viewers and even in the demo. I wouldn't read too much into this either way as I think the reaction to the episode is more important than ratings.

It was pretty rough for ABC. At 8pm, The Middle was up two tenths in viewers but down a tenth in the demo for its worst showing since February 26. The Middle was even in viewers but down two tenths in the demo. The comedies definitely skewed older this week. At 9pm, Modern Family was down 1.2 million viewers and a brutal seven tenths in the demo for its lowest demo since Thanksgiving Eve in 2009 (when it pulled a 2.5 demo). This was a horrible drop and is hopefully an aberration for the comedy anchor. At 9:30pm, Mixology was down half a million viewers and two tenths in the demo. At 10pm, Nashville was down six tenths in viewers and three tenths in the demo for a series low. I'm sure it's going to get renewed, but does it really deserve to? Finally on FOX, American Idol was down two tenths in viewers and two tenths in the demo to tie a Wednesday low.
